A highly respected regional theatre performer, Lester Purry has graced numerous stages during his 30 years in the business, including Baltimore Center Stage, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Studio Theatre in Washington, D.C., Arden Theatre Company in Philadelphia, Dallas Theatre Center, Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre, Savannah Theatre, Nebraska Shakespeare Festival, and Alabama Shakespeare Festival, where he met his lovely wife Toni Johnson-Purry. He is a longtime company member of Penumbra Theatre in St. Paul, MN, where he has appeared in dozens of plays including August Wilson’s Fences (as Cory Maxson), Two Trains Running, King Hedley II, Jitney, and The Piano Lesson. Lester has performed lead roles in several other theatres in the Twin Cities, including Illusion Theatre, Minnesota Opera, Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, Mixed Blood Theatre Company, and Children's Theatre Company, as well as the title role in the Guthrie Theatre’s national tour of Othello. He has starred in several independent films, shorts, and commercials, and also works as a voice- over actor. Lester and his wife currently reside in Los Angeles.
