Covid Protocol Update

When we introduced our COVID-19 safety protocols prior to the start of the season, we told you that we would continually monitor the situation and re-evaluate as circumstances evolved.

As the number of cases throughout Florida has steadily declined for several weeks, we will no longer require guests to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test or documentation of full vaccination status.

However, the mask mandate remains in place. All guests at PBD continue to be required to wear suitable masks that completely cover the nose, mouth, and under the chin for their entire visit. Anyone who does not comply will be escorted out of the theatre. We do this out of an abundance of caution. In an intimate theatre such as ours, where the audience is so close to the stage, a mask requirement for patrons is the best way to protect our actors, who obviously can’t wear masks onstage. By the way, Actors’ Equity Association has rigorous protocols in place for its members, who continue to be tested a few times a week.

The mask requirement is also the best way to protect you. Although things are, thankfully, looking up, we can’t let our guard down. The virus is still here, and people are still getting sick.    Only two-thirds of all Floridians have been vaccinated, and even a fully boosted person can be a carrier without knowing it. So, we can’t be too careful. By wearing a mask, we’re helping ourselves and we’re helping each other. It’s also clear from conversations staff members have had with dozens of patrons that the majority of you are comfortable coming to the theatre because everyone has to wear a mask.

And we repeat what we’ve been telling you all along: We will continue to monitor the situation and re-evaluate as circumstances evolve. For now, at least, we’re taking one step toward normalcy.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
