Palm Beach Dramaworks
West Palm Beach's longest residing professional theatre, Palm Beach Dramaworks, continues its 11th anniversary season with the southeast premiere of Mark St. Germain's play, Freud's Last Session on Friday, December 17th (8PM) at their intimate downtown theatre (322 Banyan Boulevard). Special priced preview performances are slated for December 15th & 16th (8PM) and the production will play through February 6th.

"We are particularly excited to present the Southeastern premiere of Freud's Last Session," stated Dramaworks' Producing Artistic Director William Hayes.. "Dramaworks played a crucial role in the development of the play, and presented several staged readings of it as part of our Drama(in the)works initiative. Subsequently, the play received it's world premiere at Barrington Stage, became the longest running show in that theatres long history, and then moved to New York. It is encouraging to know that audiences hunger for intellectual theatre, and they know a play in which C.S. Lewis matches wits with Dr. Freud is sure to deliver".

After escaping the Nazis in Vienna, legendary psychiatrist Dr. Sigmund Freud invites a young professor, C.S. Lewis, to his home in London. Lewis, having satirized Freud in a recent book expects to be reprimanded for his work, but soon realizes Freud has a much more significant agenda. On the day England enters World War II, Freud and Lewis clash on the existence of God, love, sex and the meaning of life - only two weeks before Freud chooses to take his own.

Dramaworks' Producing Artistic Director, William Hayes will direct the production featuring Dennis Creaghan and Chris Oden. The play will feature scenery designed by Michael Amico, costumes designed by Brian O'Keefe, lights designed by Sean Dolan and sound designed by Matt Corey.

Mark St. Germain is an award-winning playwright; his plays include Camping with Henry and Tom, The God Committee, Forgiving Typhoid Mary, and Out of Gas on Lovers Leap. His musical theatre credits include The Gifts of the Magi, and Stand By Your Man - The Tammy Wynette Story. Mr. St. Germain was a creative consultant and writer for several seasons on The Cosby Show and co-wrote the screenplay for the acclaimed film, Duma.
