A Little Night Music

A Little Night Music

July 10 - July 19, 2015

Specially priced preview July 9, 2015

Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim

A Little Night Music is a ravishing, sophisticated, fairy-tale operetta set in turn-of-the-(twentieth) century Sweden, suggested by the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night. It's a bittersweet confection about intertwining romantic misadventures, and features some of Sondheim's most gorgeous melodies, including his best-known song, "Send in the Clowns." The original production, produced and directed by Harold Prince, opened on Broadway on February 25, 1973, played 601 performances, and was the recipient of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Book.

110 in the Shade

110 in the Shade

August 14 - August 23, 2015

Specially priced preview August 13, 2015

Music by Harvey Schmidt · Lyrics by Tom Jones · Book by N. Richard Nash based on his play, "The Rainmaker"

110 in the Shade takes place in a drought-stricken, Southwestern town in the 1930s, where a lonely young woman named Lizzie is convinced that she'll never find true love. But the arrival of Starbuck, a charismatic con-man and self-proclaimed rainmaker, changes her life. The show opened on Broadway on October 23, 1963, and ran for 330 performances. An intimate musical with a haunting score by the composer and lyricist of The Fantasticks, 110 in the Shade did not receive its due during its initial run. But subsequent productions – at New York City Opera in 1992 and a 2007 Broadway revival starring Audra McDonald – have burnished the show's reputation, and revealed it to be a jewel of a musical.
